Welcome to Ravenna Urology Clinic!
robotic prostatectomy
Robot-assisted radical prostatectomy, or da Vinci robotic prostatectomy, is a minimally invasive surgical procedure in which the surgeon uses finely controlled robotic instruments to remove the cancerous prostate safely, while reducing the wound pain, blood loss and transfusion, and shortening the hospital stay.
It is used in radical prostatectomy for early prostate cancer treatment.
treatment of urinary stones
Passage of urinary stones can be very painful. Most kidney stones won't require invasive treatment. Kidney stones that can't be treated with conservative measures - either because they're too large to pass on their own or because they cause bleeding, kidney damage or ongoing urinary tract infections - may require more invasive treatment.
benign prostate enlargement
Prostate enlargement is a common condition in elderly men that varies in severity among men and tends to gradually worsen over time. Symptoms may include poor urinary stream, difficulty starting urination, straining, dribbling, urgency and frequency in urination, incomplete voiding and frequent night time voiding (nocturia).
Green light laser TURP
GreenLight laser prostatectomy is a minimally invasive procedure for benign prostate gland enlargement. It uses laser energy for photoselective vaporization of the enlarged prostate to remove excess prostate tissue that is limiting the flow of urine. It relieves urinary symptoms and most men see improvement in their symptoms within a few days after the treatment.
Water vapour therapy for benign prostate enlargement
Water vapour therapy is a minimally invasive treatment for benign prostate gland enlargement. It uses the stored thermal energy in water vapour to treat the enlarged prostate nodules and reduce the size of the prostate. It relieves urinary symptoms while preserving sexual function. Most men see improvement in their symptoms within a few weeks and can return to regular activities within a few days after the treatment.
Retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) for kidney stones
Retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) is a procedure for performing surgery within the kidney using a viewing tube called a fiberoptic endoscope. The endoscope is placed through the urethra (the urinary opening) into the bladder and then through the ureter into the urine-collecting part of the kidney. The scope thus is moved retrograde (up the urinary tract system) to within the kidney (intrarenal). RIRS may be performed to remove a stone. The stone is seen through the scope and can then be fragmented by Holmium laser and retrieved with a stone basket device. Advances in endoscopes, digital optics, laser delivery and stone retrieval devices have made RIRS safe and feasible.
